The National Gallery

23 Feb

Leaving the RHS show knowing i’d spent the money i’d put aside to get into Leighton House, I walked over to the National Gallery to spend a few hours.

Usually I go straight to the early Renaissance stuff because it is shamelessly superior to real life, especially the Carlo Crivelli room and this and I am very fond of seeing lots of gilt and lapis lazuli.

Instead, I had a good trawl through the rest of it and turned up a few gems I hadn’t noticed before. This takes me out of myself. On the other hand, this surely would have had the nuns thinking unsuitable thoughts if it were bought by a convent.

No photographs because the gallery are spoil-sports when it comes to photography.
